Let
the Redeemed of the Lord Say So!
Psalms 41:1
1Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of
trouble. (NIV)
The Bible has many passages concerning care for the poor and
needy. When you see the same subject spoken of over and over
again in the Bible, especially throughout the entire Bible from the
Old Testament, God is emphasizing an important
point. He is very clear as
to our responsibility to help the poor. Now of course, this
brings to mind mental images of the homeless, those people begging
on street corners for food, living in cardboard boxes under over
passes or the ones who occupy the shelters at night.
But there is another type of
poverty that includes not only those who have financial lack, but
those who have spiritual lack.
All throughout Jesus’ earthly ministry, He reached out to the whole
range of their spiritual need. Jesus said, “What shall it
profit a man to gain the whole world, and lose his soul?” We
need to be aware of the “poor” people that we may come in contact
with everyday. Not the financially poor, but the spiritually
poor. We have a responsibility to share Jesus Christ, and the
hope and love of Him with these people just as we would share a meal
with someone who is hungry. It is not a choice, but an
obligation as followers of Christ to reach out to those who are
hurting and need to know there are answers beyond the things of this
world.
19Therefore
go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I
am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Matthew 28:19-20
(NIV)
All Christians are
called to teach someone because we are called to make disciples,
which is accomplished through teaching. A person
who teaches needs to know more truth than the person being
taught.
The
motive of our ministry is to teach people an overview of the whole
Bible in such a way that they will never forget it and will be able
to understand the complete unity of the entire Bible by teaching
basic truths. We recognize that one can never exhaust the
knowledge contained in the Word of God but we hope to instill an
excitement of discovering an understanding of His Word
personally. God is pursuing us and
calling us into a loving relationship with Him. The
relationship God offers is one of Grace and love. It is our
hope that you will gain insight into why God gave the world His
prophecies and that you will gain a new understanding of Gods
love. |
